Natural History by Hanne Enemark : 19th June – 31st July 2014

19th August 2014

Vessel Gallery is proud to present ‘Natural History’ by rising star Hanne Enemark. Please join us for an evening reception on Thursday 26th June @ Vessel Gallery.

In addition to her remarkable array of existing glass works we will be introducing her exquisite new collections, most notably the sumptuous new colours of her Imago vases. Initially conceived for her Phototaxis lighting range, golden butterflies defy gravity by the use of tiny magnets, adorning droplet shaped vases in shades of gold, peach, aqua and violet. The body of each butterfly is presented as a precious cut gem: jades, amethysts, and sapphires twinkle from their lacy setting. Each vase is a unique composition of poised elegance, fluid curves, geometric lines with a glamorous glint of gold.

About Hanne Enemark
b: 1980, Seoul, South Korea

Hanne Enemark graduated from the Royal College of Art’s glass department in 2010. She is a designer and maker whose sensitivity to the hot and cold qualities of glass draws heavily from her Scandinavian upbringing in Denmark, a country immersed in a strong design heritage.

Enemark’s work celebrates the many conflicting qualities of glass, from soft and malleable airy fluidity to sharp rocky brittle shards. She has an ability to illuminate the beauty of ‘flaws’ such as a cracked rim or a dirty smudge, reveling in qualities not often celebrated in her chosen material. The works are labour intensive and all pieces are hand blown and polished using age old techniques. Hanne Enemark has shown her work globally and is represented in the prestigious Ebeltoft Glass Museum permanent collection. In 2012 she was awarded Elle Decoration’s New Designer Award and was also nominated for Homes & Gardens’ Designer award. In 2013 she was runner up for the Perrier Jouët Arts Salon Prize.
